چکیده

Signatures of black hole events at CERN’s Large Hadron Collider are discussed. Event simulations are carried out with the Fortran Monte Carlo generator CATFISH. Inelasticity effects, exact field emissivities, color and charge conservation, corrections to semiclassical black hole evaporation, gravitational energy loss at formation and possibility of a black hole remnant are included in the analysis.

Search for Sphalerons in Proton-Proton Collisions

In a recent paper, Tye and Wong (TW) have argued that sphaleron-induced transitions in highenergy proton-proton collisions should be enhanced compared to previous calculations, based on a construction of a Bloch wave function in the periodic sphaleron potential and the corresponding pass band structure. Here we convolute the calculations of TW with parton distribution functions and simulations ...

Black Holes and Quantum Gravity at the LHC

We argue that the highly studied black hole signatures based on thermal multiparticle final states are very unlikely and only occur in a very limited parameter regime if at all. However, we show that if the higher-dimensional quantum gravity scale is low, it should be possible to study quantum gravity in the context of higher dimensions through detailed compositenesstype searches.

Extra dimensions and micro black holes at the LHC

We present recent studies of the ATLAS and CMS Collaborations on the potential to discover extra dimensions and microscopic black holes in the forthcoming 2009-10 LHC run. We show that there is a good chance that with an integrated luminosity of ∼ 100 pb −1 accumulated at a center-of-mass energy of 10 TeV the searches for such new physics will be extended beyond the existing limits. Extra dimen...

Quantum Gravity Effects in Black Holes at the LHC

We study possible back-reaction and quantum gravity effects in the evaporation of black holes which could be produced at the LHC through a modification of the Hawking emission. The corrections are phenomenologically taken into account by employing a modified relation between the black hole mass and temperature. The usual assumption that black holes explode around 1TeV is also released, and the ...

Study of highly-excited string states at the Large Hadron Collider

In TeV-scale gravity scenarios with large extra dimensions, black holes may be produced at future colliders. Good arguments have been made for why general relativistic black holes may be just out of reach of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). However, in weaklycoupled string theory, highly excited string states – string balls – could be produced at the LHC with high rates and decay thermally, not...
